 Message From President Glen Weeks

My Fellow Firefighters:

It is with great honor that I report to you my election as FASIS President, effective July 1, 2014.   I have served on the FASIS Board since 2007 and I welcome this new and challenging opportunity. After serving over 10 years as your President, Chief Sean Grinnell, FASIS President, has now passed the baton on to me as the newly-elected President.  Chief Grinnell will continue to serve on the FASIS Board of Directors, representing the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Chief Grinnell for his years of dedication and service to FASIS, as well as to the Board, and its members. In his personal message to FASIS and the Board of Directors, Chief Grinnell stated it has been an honor and privilege to serve as president and he looks forward to assisting me as we make this transition.

As part of my duties, I will carry forth the values of Chief Grinnell, as well as those of the Board of Directors to ensure that our almost 200 members’ employees are provided comprehensive workers’ compensation coverage and benefits for on-the-job illnesses and injuries.  I will strive to expand the loss control program and workers’ compensation claims oversight services to mitigate losses, provide a safe environment for employees and to help keep our rates competitive.

In 2013, the FASIS Board of Directors approved its mission statement and values as follows:

Mission and Value Statements

The purpose of the Fire Agencies Self Insurance System is to provide cost-effective and value-added services that will enable members to protect the communities they serve.

The Fire Agencies Self Insurance System strives to:

•              Administer the program with the highest degree of integrity and fairness

                for our members;

•              Effectively reduce and control losses;

•              Provide risk and loss management services and programs; and

•              More importantly, extend excellent coverage and value-added services

                to members.

I look forward to serving the Board of Directors and all FASIS members.  As your President, I promise that I will do my best to guide this organization as we continue to be the preeminent workers’ compensation provider for fire districts since our formation in 1984.

Yours truly,

Glen Weeks
FASIS President
